It seems that next weekend, August 28th to be exact, will be a big one for bellydance in Eugene, with performance opportunities, a workshop with Zoe Jakes and a show by Beats Antique. I’ve been thinking of going over early on Saturday and coming back on Sunday and looking for a few dancer friends who might be interested, but no luck finding company for the two hour drive so far. The details are below.
The Eugene Celebration Parade with the Middle Eastern Dance Guild of Eugene is going to be a fun, low-key dance opportunity. The parade is on Saturday, August 28 and starts at 10am. This year’s theme is “Raise the Roof”, and the Guild’s plan is to do just that! Cheri will be the main contact for the parade this year, so if you have questions or want more information, you can email her at email@example.com. The Guild needs at least 4 people to carry their roof and it would be an excellent opportunity for new/shy dancers who may be intimidated by dancing in the parade, but who would love to get into costume and be part of the celebration! This year’s color theme will be black, silver, gold so mix it, match it, coordinate it, and just have fun with it!
They will also have musicians in the back of Sally’s float (aka pick-up), so if you know some musicians who haven’t wanted to walk and play, here’s their chance to ride and play! Help MEDGE beat their 2008 record of 30+ dancers/musicians!
